He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins…

…and I have a huge head start.

I collect Action Figures and other related Toys. I started about 1990 with four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a couple of Batman figures. The collection today is mostly BATMAN and Star Trek Action Figures with G.I. Joe, Aliens, Predator, Spawn, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Toy Story and several others included. A few Star Wars, and some other unique figures round out the collection.

Most of the collection was on display in my computer room at home until a major home renovation in early 2003 led to most of it being put away until 2007 when I had the time and money to completely renovate the room. I hope to have the room redone by the end of 2010, but I doubt it.

I have over 2,600 action figures 887 are Mattel and Hasbro and Kenner tie at 483 and 484 respectively.  At least 255 of them are from Playmates, mostly Star Trek, but 32 TMNT figures including the Star Trek Turtles of course.  I also have a matched set of Skeleton Warriors all 9 of them with the number 20 that I won in an AFN & TR Prize Giveaway years ago.

Welcome Flabat! (jealousy-hate-jealousy-hate) Great to have you here (jealousy-hate-admiration-jealousy) Those pics look amazing (hate-jealousy-jealousy-pure unadulterated envy).  Cheesy

But seriously, incredible, I don't think I have ever seen that amount of batmen. Ever.

That's an awesome collection, and I loved the display.

Good to have you here.

Great stuff Flabat and welcome to the fold!

I'm equal parts impressed by the attention to bat-detail in your collection and horrified by a green Batmobile!  Cheesy

Indeed there are.  Bark Knight and both Lava Fury Batman from the Legends Of The Bark Knight figures are still boxed and put away for now, but one day they will have a spot on display.

It took me 4 years to plan out the new room.  The old room was put together in a piecemeal fashion, buying new bookcases and shelving, as I needed to expand.  There was no uniformity to it.  Nothing matched and everything was spread out.  Here are some pictures of how it used to look.

2003: from the doorway

2003: North wall

2003: West wall

2003: Southeast Corner

2003: in front of the door

2003: Southwall under the Batcave

One of the new design considerations was for dust and the other Hurricanes.  You can imagine what a pain it was to dust everything the way it was.  Hurricane Andrew destroyed the room in ’92.  I had a really small collection at that time.  Years later it took me 16 hours to take down the room once as a Hurricane approached and even then there was still some of it up.  I was in the middle of taking it down a second time for different storm that turned at the last minute, so I wanted to be able to leave most of it in place should a storm hit next time.

2003: Desk Hutch top

2003: Desk Hutch

2003: Floor center of room

2003: Looking down on the Batcave on the South wall.

2003: The Batman Forever Batcave left side

2003: The Batman Forever Batcave right side

For a point of reference, the Playmates Star Trek figures are in almost the same place as they were before, although they are in an all-new bookcase.   The Desk, Hutch and File Cabinet are the same and were not moved.  The Enterprise Bridge was moved from the top of the File Cabinet to the corner bookcase and Spawn is there now.  The Batman wall light was moved just a little to the left of where it was to make room for a bigger shelf that has yet to have figures put on it.
The rest of the room is all-new.  10 new bookcases and a curio case were custom built to fit the new display stands from Mini Mag Stands.  I found out later that half the book cases were not as deep as they should have been.  I had to trim the back edge of some of the new display stands to make them fit behind the glass doors.

My original plan was to work on the room for the two weeks that my wife and son would be away on vacation.  However, nothing showed up on time and the bookcases actually arrived as she came home from the Airport.  Up until that point the room was used for storage of the figures.  From floor to ceiling there were large Rubbermaid and Sterlite tubs and boxes with just a small “L shaped path to my desk.  So all of that was moved all over the rest of the house as I had to empty the room to set up the new bookcases.  You can just imagine the joy that day.

Now she knew I was going to do the new room, she just did not know when or how.   So suddenly after she got back we needed a new Kitchen and you can guess who won that contest.  So I put up what figures I could and most of the tubs and boxes were put back in the room for storage to make room for work on the kitchen.

Next week the wife and kid go away again and I will take another stab clearing out the storage boxes and putting up more on display.

I thought I had a picture of Bark Knight as he was on display for a time, but I cannot find it.  Bark Knight is in a Sterlite storage tub somewhere in the house, if I find him I will take his picture and put it up.

You see the blue and gray Batman: The Dark Knight figure from the Legends Of The Dark Knight series behind Master Chief?  There was also an all black version called Dark Knight Detective that was an Internet exclusive as well.

“Bark Knight” is a two-up of that figure.  It is of course a bootleg of the figure and one of the best bootlegs I have ever seen.  It is more purplish than blue or gray and comes in a window box that reads “Legends of the Bark Knight”

There were also two Lava Fury Batman figures that were also two-ups of the figure by the same name from the Legends Of The Dark Knight too.  One is called Argent Batman and the other Golden Batman and the window box reads “Legends of the Bat Knight”.    I saw them in pictures FB posted long ago on LoG and asked about them and if he could get me one of them.  We used to trade figures years ago and he sent me all three.

I have a few bootlegs, some good, some awful, but Bark Knight would crack me up every time I looked at it.
