Thanks for the great comments FB!

The yellow was an interesting one. I actually applied it really thinly and on the high ridges the white undercoat was ever so slightly showing through. Rather than keep applying coats, I just put another thin one on and you could still see the white so it gave definition without me having to drybrush or anything (kinda cheating actually).

Because white is such a crap colour, his belt is actually a light grey. THis way it doesn't stand out so much.

Ummm.....there's really not much to this custom at all. It's a Marvel Legends Human Torch. The hardest part was actually removing those flame thingies from his body so I could prime it. Man, those things are on tight. Had to use a scalpel to cut them off!!!!

You clicked on to something that i did early on too.Several thinly applied coats really works well on these guys and the right undercoat really does assist with the overall finished product beautifully.Hey if it works it's not cheating i say, besides who are you cheating anyways? Cheesy
The only thing i discovered i don't like for my tastes is pale undercoats for Flesh areas.I always use Grey primer for those areas, seems to"warm up"the flesh tones i reckon.

Too true!

I'm actually having trouble finding 'brush on' undercoat. I normally use Games Workshop aerosols because they come in black and white which I use depending on the finish I want. They used to make brush on stuff but not anymore.

It's great for getting into little places, or recovering an area you've slopped over such as black into an area that will be white....and we know how well one covers the other  Tongue

Okay, so you thought I was a one hit wonder did you? Well I showed you.....I'm a two hit wonder.

Anyhoo.....for your visual appreciation here is my second attempt at a custom figure. I've always been a big fan of Marvel's "Wrecking Crew", so I decided to give one of them a go. Since I couldn't decide on a buck for 'The Wrecker', I moved on to "Thunderball". I didn't want to use the Absorbing Man's wrecking ball so I made my own from a styrene ball and some chain I found at a craft store. The ball was amazingly smooth so I gave it a very light brush here and there with some enamel paint to 'rough' it up a bit to make it look like it had seen some action. Next up is another 25% of the Wrecking Crew.

Thanks to Dozy for donating head!  Grin

Thanks guys. Luke Cage's head had to have the tiara and a fair bit of the afro sanded off and tidied up. Thunderball is also one of those villains who is just obscure enough to have variations in the way his costume is depicted. I chose to leave off the 'pirate' boots as Piledriver has them too and I'll leave them intact.

Great work, especially working so well with the yellow again! Is that a spray acrylic paint or hand painted?

Great work FMS!! I can't believe the Wrecking Crew never got the Legends treatment - glad to see you're making up for it!!

Thanks N.O. I didn't want to handpaint that much yellow (two customs from two working with yellow. None on number 3 tho') so I went with an acrylic spray. This one is made by Humbrol. If you need to touch up (as I did) it's horrible as you spray a bit in a cup and it begins to thicken instantly so then it's out with the thinner, etc.

Great work FMS!! I can't believe the Wrecking Crew never got the Legends treatment - glad to see you're making up for it!!

Thanks Andy. Yeah, I would have thought the Wrecker would be in with a shot, but instead we get 'Blackheart' who up until that point had maybe 3-4 appearances ever! Go figure? (pardon the pun)

Wow, that's some tremendous work man.  Very good-looking, clean customs.  Can't believe I didn't notice that Firelord before.  He's one of my most wanted characters for the ML line, and has been for years.  You've done a great job on him.  Thunderball looks great on a DCUC base.  Which head is that being used?  Great job on his ball-and-chain, as well.  Can't wait to see your next project.

Thanks for the kind words Raj. Yeah, the DCUC buck allows me to make these guys 'big' as I want them to be imposing. The head came from a ML Luke Cage kindly donated by Dozymuppet. Bit of work to get rid of the tiara and excess 'fro but I was very happy with the outcome.
