Yeah the Nightwatch/Daywatch trilogies are awesome!

Beware of the Nightwatch and Daywatch films though. They are EXCELLENT films but they aren't REALLY the books turned into films.

Nightwatch, in print. consist of 3 books.
So does Daywatch.

The part that is misleading is that in film, Nightwatch is the first part of the Nightwatch trilogy of books, so that's fine. BUT Daywatch is THE SECOND part of the Nightwatch trilogy.

So the films SHOULD BE NAMED Nightwatch I and Nightwatch II.

Just pointing that out for anyone who wants to read or watch these. Smiley

Oh really?  It has been ages since I saw the nightwatch movie/read the book so can't remember the discrepancies.  Always useful to know the differences though.

I just picked up "Gone" by Michael Grant today. It's about a world where everyone above the age of 15 disappears. Looking forward to it!

Is that biological or psychological age? Depending on the type of maturity I should be okay as I still find fart jokes hilarious!  Grin

Biological sadly. We'd be toast.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Disc World, when I found out that Terry Pratchett was ill, I felt like crap. Never happened to me before, to actually feel really sorry for someone I never met (apart from his wonderful books).

I'm rereading Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan.  Currently in book 5 (Fires of Heaven) of 12 (I haven't read the last 2 or 3).

Before that I read 11 of the 15 books in the Dune series.

I quit Wheel of Time with book 4. Just too many subplots and wandering waffle from a guy who wrote some excellent Conan stories. A friend of mine who is a devout fan quit at book 10. I haven't had the heart to tell him that Book 12 is 'part 1'.  Cheesy

You quit in 4 because of too many subplots?!  Cheesy
I think it's book 6 where EACH CHARACTER has their own subplot.  Or two.  And they don't start resolving until book 8.  I really, really liked 8.

Makes you wonder how Bob Howard wrote so many awesome Conan stories and only one of them was ever a 'novel'. But I guess if you're gonna devote your life to writing s single epic, make sure you leave lots of notes in case you don't survive to complete it.
