Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah! In hindsight Peter and Kitty were not the innocent pairing, they were the "that go is so going to the big house for statutory if he goes any further", couple. She was what 13, and he was 18 (or so)? Yeah, don't let the cops find out what they were up to when she was phasing around his room.
I'm really concerned about how your mind fills in the gaps between issues Westy! ...then again, a 12 year old girl in Dubbo gave birth recently. But then it is Dubbo.

Nightcrawler was the fun character.....the antithesis of Wolverine which made them such great buddies. The whole misdirected "wanna be a priest" stuff is just wretched.
I liked the fun side of Kurt, but also his soulful side. The most important thing about Kurt to me was his relationships - with Kitty, Peter, Ororo. I haven't seen that aspect of the books for a long time, and it's sadly missed. Too true. Wolvie was the grouchy one, Kurt was the fun one, Peter and and Kitty were the innocent pairing. Throw in Storm, Rogue and Cyclops and you've got the foundation for my preferred X-Men lineup. I was thinking more about this this evening, this loss of characterisation, and I think this is my main problem with the X-books. The characters that I really love are spread out over so many books they hardly get to interact, and when they do it's often as if they have no history with each other. This extends to the original New Mutants, etc. Too many books, too many characters, too many people writing them who don't seem to understand them at all. It's a bit sad.

To be fair, I'm fairly certain that there was an issue where they both decide they need to call it off because it would be wrong, but I don't think they actually said it was because of the age gap.

And at the moment it seems like Cyclops, White Queen and Wolverine are in every book and the others are guest stars. It's not that I don't like those characters, but I love Nightcrawler and he barely gets a look in these days (in any book) My 8 person x-team would be 1. Cyclops 2. Wolverine 3. Storm 4. Colossus 5. Shadowcat 6. Nightcrawler 7. Rogue 8. Phoenix (just plain old X-Factor style)

Scratch Jean off that list for me. She's a ruined character, and I really, really hope she stays dead.

Pretty cool list, but it's missing Ice Man.

Yes, it is. Well I could easily do a JSA and list my eighteen person X-Men team, but I drew the line at 8. Phoenix was great in X-Factor. They moved on from the baggage and just made her a good characer.
